The International Journal of Values in Education and Society is a peer-reviewed journal that publishes scientific studies in different disciplines of teacher training. The aim of the journal is to contribute to the literature of teacher training with the studies that have scientific value and attach importance to original and ethical principles. The referee guide has been prepared as a guide for the development of academic studies in line with these principles and for the qualified referee evaluation process.
The International Journal of Values in Education and Society is an international peer-reviewed journal published biannually and is prepared by an independent editorial team.
Publishing Policies
Studies in accordance with the following principles are published in the International Journal of Values in Education and Society.
• Studies prepared using quantitative, qualitative, single-subject or mixed research designs on the subject of education,
• Literature analysis, meta-analysis or meta-synthesis studies that comprehensively evaluate the recent literature on education,
• Studies or similar original articles that offer model suggestions that can be applied practically in education.
Evaluation and Publication Process of Submitted Manuscripts
Domain Editor Evaluation
All the works sent for evaluation are firstly reviewed by the editor and then by the field editors in terms of purpose, subject, content, presentation style and compliance with the spelling rules.
Only studies that meet the pre-evaluation criteria are sent to the referees.
When the editor deems it necessary, before the referee evaluation, the author's information about a study is kept confidential, and expert opinion can be obtained. The editor can also make his decision based on the expert opinions.
Editorial Pre-Evaluation Criteria
The editorial pre-evaluation criteria are as follows:
For quantitative studies;
• Studies that contain one continuous variable or two continuous variables and are based only or predominantly on frequency, percentage, difference and correlation statistics are evaluated according to the scope of the study.
• Priority is given to studies that contain a single continuous variable or two continuous variables and use advanced statistics such as single or multiple regression, path analysis, cluster analysis.
For studies that develop measurement tools;
• Studies reporting only the development of measurement tools, the authenticity of the developed measurement tool, its scope, the quality of the developed group, the competence of the validity and reliability procedures, etc. evaluated on the basis of criteria.
• Priority is given to studies that report using the developed measurement tool in a research.
For experimental studies;
• Priority is given to experimental studies whose research data are supported by qualitative data.
For qualitative studies;
• For qualitative research, it is important to ensure that the validity and reliability conditions of the research process are met and that the data are analyzed in depth.
For descriptive/theoretical studies;
• It is aimed to publish analytical studies that reveal the basic problems related to educational sciences and offer solutions to them. On the other hand, it is expected that the studies included in this scope will not be in the form of book chapters.
For mixed pattern works;
• The publication rate of studies with mixed designs is higher. However, it is expected to be explained together with the technique why and which mixed methodology is used in mixed studies. In mixed-pattern research, the quantitative and qualitative parts of the research are evaluated separately. Quantitative and qualitative parts are expected to meet the above criteria separately.
Moreover;
• Studies based on measurement tools that are frequently used in the field and researches on subjects that have been studied extensively are expected to reveal a new orientation.
• In studies based on master's and doctoral theses, it is expected that the thesis is presented as a whole, all data used in the thesis is reported, and there is no slicing in theses.
• Up-to-dateness of data is given importance for all types of research. If 5 years or more have passed since the collection of research data, it is stated that the researches are out of date.
Peer Review Process
The studies whose preliminary evaluation of the editor and the field editor are completed are sent to two referees from the field. If there is a difference of opinion between the evaluations of the referees, the opinion of a third referee is sought.
Transparency
• All correspondence between the author and the editorial in the International Journal of Values in Education and Society; Editor, field editor and referee evaluation processes are transparent. Only between the editor, the field editor and the referees about a study
